Home > Speaker > July 2015: Sue Kocher – Recovering from Religion

Join us for our seventh Assembly! This month we’ll be focusing on community, the reason so many of us sought out Sunday Assembly in the first place.

This month’s speaker will be Sue Kocher, to share with us her work in helping people through the painful transition away from their faith communities. Sue has served on the Board of the Triangle Freethought Society (TFS) since its inception in 2009 and has worked on a variety of activist, educational, and community projects in support of the freethought/atheist community. Sue was among the first to be trained as a volunteer for Recovering from Religion Hotline, a resource for callers who are struggling with their loss of religious belief. In her talk, Sue will discuss the growing need for the RR Hotline, and share stories of internal conflict and family and community loss—and also relief—that callers experience as a result of leaving their faith.
