Many of us are, or know, people who have been hit hard by the economic strain of the pandemic. But at the margins of our communities, queer black and indigenous people are on the brink.
Since the start of the pandemic, the QTIPOC Survival Fund has been providing resources for queer folks of color in Carrboro and Chapel Hill who are experiencing housing insecurity, food instability, medical needs or other issues impacting their survival or well-being. They distribute funds every month with no strings attached.
We are thrilled to be joined by Dr. Sharon P. Holland, a cofounder of the Survival Fund and a professor of American Studies at UNC Chapel Hill. She has fought and organized for queer black people for decades, back to the AIDs crisis in the 1980’s.
