Our speaker this month will be our own Amy Blanchard. Here’s what she has to say about her talk:

After suffering a great personal loss earlier this year, I realized I didn’t feel equipped to handle the loss that others family members felt. I wasn’t sure what to do or say. I wasn’t sure if my expectations of what others might do for or say to me was appropriate. I had suffered loss before, but it was quite different, and I was younger. Growing up, my parents had a small social network, so I can’t recall observing them help others through loss. So I found the book “There Is No Good Card for This,” by Kelsey Crowe, PhD and Emily McDowell, and I dove in. It’s an approachable text because it blends research with a casual tone, making it simple to put into practice. I will be sharing the main tips and pointers in this book so that we all might feel more comfortable and confident being there more for one another – here at Sunday Assembly and out in the rest of the world.
